Ithaca, N.Y. — The Ithaca Police Department is investigating a strong armed robbery that occurred on Sunday.

Sgt. John Joly said that a woman fell to the ground after an unknown robber grabbed her purse strap. The strap broke and the robber took off with the purse.

Police say the robbery took place at around 7:30 p.m. Sunday evening at the intersection of North Plain Street and West Seneca Street.

Police are investigating.

The suspect is described as a white male approximately 6’0 tall, medium build, with reddish facial hair, wearing a white t-shirt and jeans.
