Ithaca, N.Y. — One person was taken to the hospital after a stabbing in Ithaca Tuesday afternoon, according to Officer Jamie Williamson.

About a dozen police officers were on scene outside the social services on the 300 block of West State Street around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. Bangs Ambulance was also on the scene.

Williamson confirmed that one person was receiving medical attention at a local hospital. Police are still in the process of gathering information about what led to the stabbing, but Williamson confirmed “that an assault took place.”

Witnesses at the scene said that they saw a man bleeding from the face. Additionally, initial dispatch reports indicated that the man suffered facial injuries.

Police were investigating in the parking lot of the Human Services Building. The ambulance was parked on the other side of West State Street.

The woman who said she called 911, Vonnie Dawson Roberts, said she saw a bloodied man in the parking lot area of the Human Services Building.
