Ithaca, N.Y. — Break-in attempts were made at both Purity Ice Cream and the Subway on Elmira Road early Monday morning, according to Ithaca police.

At least 12 businesses have now been hit in a string of burglaries now dating back several weeks. They include Ithaca to Go, The Piggery, Firehouse Subs, Angelos Dry Cleaning and the Bowl-O-Drome.

Earlier: Ithaca police encourage public’s help in solving string of burglaries at businesses

Here’s the account police gave of the most recent incidents:

1 — Subway shop at 401 Elmira Road/Route 13

At 2:10 a.m., Ithaca police responded to an alarm at the Subway. There, they discovered that someone was able to enter the sub shop.

“At this time it does not appear that anything was missing,” police said.

“Video images from the business are forthcoming and the investigation is continuing.”

2 — Purity Ice Cream at 700 South Meadow Street

Around 4:57 a.m., Ithaca police were called to Purity Ice Cream for a reported burglary.

They found the ice cream shop’s front glass entry door had been smashed.

“It is unknown if entry was made into the business,” police said.

Both investigations are continuing.
