Ithaca, N.Y. — A home health aide stole 16 checks collectively worth $4,000 from an elderly woman in Ithaca, police said Friday.

Stacey L. Courtright, 24, of Ovid, worked on the 300 block of North Geneva Street as a home health aide.

This spring, money was discovered to be missing from the elderly woman’s account. An audit of her bank account took authorities to Courtright, police said.

Courtright turned herself into police on Wednesday, according to police.

She has been charged with third-degree grand larceny, a felony, and arraigned in Ithaca City Court.
