Ithaca, N.Y. — Ithaca High School Principal Jarett Powers is being considered as the superintendent for a school district in Cayuga County.

That’s according to the Union Springs School District’s Board of Education Meeting Agenda.

Superintendent Luvelle Brown has not returned messages left Sunday and Monday. Emails sent to Powers have not been returned, either.

The Union Springs meeting is scheduled to be held tonight at 7 p.m.

The Union Springs’ school website says that it is looking for a “new Superintendent of Schools to take over once Linda Rice retires the end of July 2014. We have hired a search consultant to assist us with the process. The Board is seeking the opinions of staff, parents, community members and students as we think about desired attributes of the next Superintendent.”

This story is developing right now. We’ll provide updates when we have more information.
