Update 5 p.m. — The fire department has said the woman was taken to Cayuga Medical Center after the incident.

Ithaca, N.Y. — A woman appeared dazed but uninjured after her car flipped on Ithaca’s College Avenue Friday and landed on its side.

Firefighters were called to the scene around noon. Responders worked with pickaxes and saws to remove the front windshield. They then entered the vehicle and slowly helped the woman out from the wreckage.

The woman was put into a stretcher and wheeled off.

The accident occurred when the woman’s red Audi struck a parked car on the side of College Avenue, said William Campbell, a pizza delivery driver who saw the crash.

“I watched it hit the car and then land on its side,” Campbell said.

“I slammed on my brakes and called 911.”
