Ithaca, N.Y. — Cornell police are asking for help finding the burglar or burglars who broke into the university’s Sailing Center this weekend.

Early Sunday morning, a sailing employee found that the west-side of a glass door at the Merrill Family Sailing Center had been damaged. The building manager then arrived and realized a safe had been stolen.

A police press release did not say if this burglary is suspected to be connected with the string of break-ins at more than a dozen businesses in Ithaca.

The safe had about $100 and other items inside. The burglary occurred between 5 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. Sunday. at the sailing center, which is at 1000 East Shore Drive.

Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call them at (607) 255-1111 or at cup-inv@cornell.edu.
