Update 8:30 p.m. — The vehicles fires in Ithaca Saturday night have been ruled as arson, Lt. Thomas Basher said in a news release Sunday.
Ithaca, N.Y. — Arson investigators are working to learn more about two vehicle fires in Ithaca Saturday night that occurred less than 30 minutes apart, according to police.
Both fires have been deemed suspicious.
One engulfed a sedan on the 400 block of Ithaca’s North Albany Street, according to police. Police were called to the scene, near the GIAC swimming pool, around 10:15 p.m.
Less than 30 minutes later, police were again called to assist the Ithaca Fire Department. They found the inside of a 1992 GMC Sierra pick-up truck on fire on the 400 block of North Geneva Street.
Ithaca Police Department and Ithaca Fire Department arson investigators are working with the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control to learn the sources of both fires.
