Ithaca, N.Y. — A Trumansburg woman turned herself in Wednesday after forging 43 checks totaling $11,381 from her employer, according to police.

Hired as a personal health aide, Lenora J. Reid, 38, reportedly forged her employer’s signature on checks from May 2013 through January 2014. The employer contacted police on Feb. 28 after she noticed “a significant amount” of money was stolen.

After an investigation, police determined they had probable cause to arrest Reid and applied for an arrest warrant, according to an Ithaca Police Department press release.

Reid was arrainged in the Ithaca City Court on one charge of grand larceny and one charge of criminal possession of a forged instrument, police said.

She was released on her own recognizance, according to police.
