Bloombsburg, Pa. — A fugitive wanted on drug and drunken-driving charges in Ithaca was arrested recently after posing for the photographer of a Pennsylvania newspaper, the Associated Press reported Monday.

Jacob Close, 25, participated in the weekly “Your Opinion” feature of the Press Enterprise in Bloomsburg, Pa., the AP reported.

Close was asked by the newspaper about the debate over the Washington Redskins’ name.

“I think they should keep the name, but change the mascot to a potato,” he was quoted as saying, according to the blog Romenesko.

After Close’s photo was published, authorities connected him to the DWI case in Ithaca. Close is reported to have fled charges in Ithaca several years ago. He was arrested at the student recreation center of Bloomsburg University, the AP said.

The AP said Close is now being held on $25,000 bail pending extradition to New York.
