Tioga, N.Y. — A husband out on a jog with his wife in Tioga County early Saturday morning was hit and killed by a vehicle that then sped away from the scene, according to law enforcement.

A man is now being sought by state police in connection with the fatal hit-and-run.

Here’s the account given by state police:

Daniel Manwarring, 41, of Tioga, was out on West Whitcomb Hill Road around 6:38 a.m. Saturday with his wife when they were both hit by a blue Nissan Xterra.

Manwarring was declared dead at the scene. His wife, Karen Manwarring, 43, was hospitalized with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

Authorities have found the vehicle and are now looking Jason L. Townsend, 33, of the Tioga County town of Nichols.

“The New York State Police is asking anyone with information on this crime to contact Investigator Stephen Sochor at the New York State Police in Ithaca at (607) 347-4440,” state police said.
