Update: Lt. Thomas Basher of IFD said the man will be okay. Helicopters were called as a precaution but not needed.

Ithaca, N.Y. — A maintenance worker at a Collegetown house is being hospitalized after an accident involving a saw, according to Dave Bartholf, who works at the property.

Emergency crews were called to 140 College Ave. around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday morning. The man suffered an arm injury.

Bangs Ambulance and Ithaca firefighters were on scene and put the man on a stretcher and then into an ambulance. Emergency radio reports indicated a helicopter would have to be called, but this has not been confirmed.

The man is about 50 years old and was badly wounded in the incident, Bartholf said.

“It’s bad, but they got to him right away,” Bartholf said.
