Cortland, N.Y. — A Byrne Dairy yogurt facility is up and running in south Cortland, on Route 13, the Cortland Standard reports.
A 10,000 square foot cheese plant will also be coming to the space, according to the newspaper.
SOUTH CORTLAND — The new Byrne Dairy yogurt facility is ready to begin commercial production Monday, a company spokesman said Friday morning.
“We define open as making commercially salable products,” Byrne Dairy General Counsel Jim Gosier said in a telephone interview. “We have been running test products for the last two weeks and will be running commercially salable products starting Monday.”
Gosier was unable to provide the cost for the 40,000-square-foot yogurt plant by press time.
Located on Route 13, the entire facility which also will eventually include a 10,000-square foot specialty cheese plant and a 10,000-square-foot agritourism center, will cost approximately $30 million to build.
