Last month, storms wreaked havoc in Yates County, creating damages reaching $9.7 million, according to the Fingerlakes Times.

Governor Cuomo released this number in a letter to President Barack Obama, requesting a federal disaster declaration.

The Fingerlakes Times reports:

“In his letter to Obama, Cuomo said more than 130 homes sustained significant damage, including flooded basements, first-floor flooding and the loss of furnaces, hot water heaters, driveways and electrical systems.

He called $9.7 million a preliminary estimate and said damage statewide will top $28.2 million.”
