Ithaca, N.Y. — Tompkins County has a higher quality of life than about 95 percent of counties in America, according to a survey published by The New York Times on Thursday.

The ranking was based on factors such as median income, education rates, life expectancy and obesity rates, The Times said.

Tompkins County had the 170th highest quality of life of 3,135 counties counted in the study.
