Ithaca and the United Way of Ithaca have started a fund to raise money for the family of Amanda Bush, the bartender who was killed in the tractor trailer crash at Simeon’s Restaurant on Friday.
100 percent of the money received in the fund will go toward paying funeral expenses and taking care of Bush’s 14-month-old daughter, Mayor Svante Myrick said.
Bush was killed when a tractor trailer burst through the front of Simeon’s Restaurant while she was working Friday afternoon. She was killed on impact.
Myrick met Bush’s family and her 14-month-old daughter Monday morning.
“She’s a bright, beautiful, cheerful kid with a long life ahead of her,” Myrick said.
“Please support them in their time of need, and share widely.”
From the United Way website:
“We are grateful for our caring community and the overwhelming response to the Simeon’s tragedy.
The family of Amanda Bush has designated United Way of Tompkins County as the agent for direct contributions for memorial gifts.
Your gift to The Amanda Bush Memorial Fund will support expenses related to the funeral service and ongoing child care needs.
United Way of Tompkins County will cover all administrative expenses for this fund so 100% of your donation will assist the family.
