ITHACA, NY — – Dr. Linda Andrei announced her candidacy for Congress in New York’s 23rd District as a Democrat. The campaign began raising funds December 14 th and ended its fourth quarter Federal Elections Commission filing totals with $132,000 cash on hand.
” We need Representatives in Congress who can listen to and act in the best interest of the people in their state and the country. Our health care system is broken. All Americans should feel safe and secure that they will be taken care of. We must insure Medicare and Social Security are protected. Job creation and economic growth depend on a healthy, well-educated workforce that can meet the challenges of the 21 st century. That’s why we must invest in affordable education for our young people, whether it is vocational or university training. Upstate NY needs representatives who understand the priorities of farmers and vintners and who are committed to keeping toxic industries from destroying the natural resources that provide fishing, hunting and other recreational opportunities in our region. Tom Reed has failed his constituents. He has aligned himself with an administration that seeks division and confrontation. He has passed tax legislation that favors the wealthy and leaves working families behind. The same impulse that led me to medicine guides me now to find solutions to heal our broken systems and bring integrity to Congress.”
Dr. Linda Andrei is a retired interventional cardiologist who has practiced medicine in the Finger Lakes and Southern Tier regions of New York as well as rural Wisconsin and North Carolina. She previous was a professor and director of a cardiac catheterization lab in a large public hospital in NYC where she trained. Linda is married to Tim, a Cornell emeritus professor who owns an Ithaca-based cyber security company. They reside in Tompkins County.
Besides a distinguished 30 year career in medicine, Linda is also a successful artist whose work has appeared in galleries from coast-to- coast and Newfoundland.
New York’s 23 rd Congressional District includes Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Chemung, Schuyler, Seneca, Steuben, Tompkins, Yates, Ontario and Tioga counties.
